For the Yamarin boat brand, 2016 marked the first year as the market leader in Finland. The statistics of Finnboat indicate that Yamarin accounted for 17.1 per cent of all new boats registered (source: Finnboat’s watercraft registration statistics for 1-12/2016). A total of 493 new Yamarin boats were registered in Finland in 2016.
The collaboration between Yamarin boats and Yamaha outboard engines has been going on strong for over 40 years now. Together they are the leading such tandem in Finland, since Yamaha outboard engines continue to dominate the outboard engine registration statistics. Yamaha has enjoyed an uninterrupted run of 39 years as the market leader in outboard engines in Finland.
“We are extremely happy and satisfied with our number one position. We have earned our position as the market leader through hard work and a positive spirit and by having a strong confidence in our own product. Our dealers obviously deserve the biggest credit for their faith in the power of the Yamarin brand. These figures show that consumers continue to rely on Yamarin, the boat brand from Finland,” says Kari Rautanen, Sales Director, Recreational Machinery, Konekesko Ltd.
Yamarin boats, known for their excellent handling, are built in Finland in the towns of Valkeakoski and Sammatti and have been granted the right to bear the Key Flag symbol by the Association of Finnish Work, indicating their Finnish origin and high standard of production. High quality and safety are other core values of the brand.
The story of the Yamarin brand started in 1972, when Kesko’s Marine unit began to develop a boat compatible with Yamaha outboard engines for the Finnish market. The result of this development work was Yamarin, a range of GRP boats. These were followed by the Yamarin Cross range of aluminium boats launched in 2011. Today, Yamarin boats are sold not only in the Finnish market but elsewhere as well, the main exporting countries being Sweden and Norway.
